What is LANAP Therapy?

The Overview

LANAP or Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure is used to treat Periodontitis.

Periodontitis is a serious, progressive bacterial infection and chronic inflammatory disease. It destroys the soft tissue and bone supporting the teeth. It causes gums to pull away from teeth, creating deep, infected pockets that can lead to tooth mobility and loss.

LANAP slows periodontitis by targeting only diseased tissue, bacteria, and toxins. A laser sterilizes the pocket, preventing further infection while stimulating tissue and bone regeneration.

LANAP has an 88% to 90% success rate in saving teeth and reducing deep pockets.

LANAP resolves issues with:

  • Periodontitis, commonly known as Periodontal Disease.

How LANAP Therapy Works

The Details

Treatment

First, we measure the pocket size to determine tissue loss.

Then we insert a tiny laser fiber between the tooth and gum. The laser kills bacteria and treats diseased tissue.

Next, we remove any hardened plaque and tartar from the root of the tooth.

Finally, we seal the gum pocket around the tooth to prevent new bacteria from entering and encourage tissue regeneration.

Recovery

Recovery is generally fast and less painful than traditional gum surgery, with most patients returning to normal activities within 24 – 48 hours.

Patients should avoid physical exertion during the first 24 hours of recovery.  For the next two weeks, stick to a liquid and soft-foods diet. Avoid carbonated beverages, alcohol, and smoking to promote faster healing.

Patients will need follow-up appointments to assess recovery.

Advantages

  • LANAP is minimally invasive, requires no cutting or stitches.
  • It targets only affected tissue leaving health tissue and bone untouched.
  • LANAP offers a faster recovery and is less painful than traditional surgery.
  • Regenerates healthy gum tissue and bone.

TESTIMONIAL

  • “More Than Impressed!”

“I recently had the pleasure of being treated by Dr. Dalton, and I can’t express enough how amazing she is! I was dealing with gum recession on my front lower tooth, and Dr. Dalton essentially healed it. She was the only dentist who recommended an advanced alternative to a traditional gum graft, saving me a lot of pain.

Throughout the one-hour surgery, Dr. Dalton was incredibly sweet and comforting. I’m thrilled to have found her and would 100% recommend her to my friends and family. Additionally, the front desk lady, Angie, was fantastic, assisting with billing and insurance claims. The assistant, Lucia, was also incredibly sweet and always helpful.

It’s been about six months since the surgery, and my tooth has pretty much completely healed. I’m more than impressed. Thank you, Dr. Dalton!”
